Championship Show 2023

2023 Show 1- Judy Docksey, Beauideal Shetland Sheepdogs

Class 1 - Baby Puppy Doga pleasing class of youngsters

1st - Santecho Damon At Sheltrue

Tri colour, pleasing head, prefer more oblique almond eye, shapely outline & firm topline.  Prefer lower set tail.  Coat good for age, deep black with rich tans.  Balanced movement, very responsive to handler, & enjoyed himself in the ring

2nd - Icepower Paco Rabanne

Sable baby, just 3 months old.  Pleasing head & expression, typey.  Promise of a good coat.  He moved well & had enough sweetness to earn his placement today.

3rd - Donriver Thats Gold

Another sweet sable dog.  Good head & expression, he had the prettiest eye in the class, oblique & almond (something we are losing).  Really well finished underjaw.  Topline a little soft at the moment (growth stage), an otherwise nicely balanced dog.

Class 2 - Minor Puppy Dog

1st – Tesskatel Watch Me Tango

Correctly sized, balanced dog.  Head planes parallel, sweet, prefer cleaner stop & smaller ears.  A little shy on the day.  Balanced side gait, but his immature body affected his gait coming & going.  In beautiful coat for his age.

Class 3 - Puppy Dog

1st - Glenmira Diamond Dealer

A very sweet, yet masculine typey boy.  Pleasing expression, flat, parallel planes & neat, high set ears.  Very balanced, good body, good bone for size.  Adorned with a glorious, golden coat.  Very responsive to his handler, & showed himself off well.  Balanced side gate, covering the ground easily.

Class 4 - Junior Dog

1st - Ch Kilwarrin The Archer

Sable dog of good size.  Sweet expression, although prefer a darker eye & cleaner stop.  Good body development.  Nicely balanced over all.  In good coat.  Balanced & even on the move, true coming & going.

Class 5 - Intermediate Dog

1st - Ch Sharndah Burn For U

A deep black tri colour with rich tans, gleaming in the sun.  Sweet expression, prefer slightly flatter skull, well placed stop, small ears.  Body not finished in development as yet & this affected his movement coming & going.  Abundant coat of correct texture.  Prefer more turn of stifle, but side gait was still acceptable.  Responsive to handler, well presented.

2nd – Tesskatel Tobias

Sable dog, down on size.  Sweet expression, almond eye & neat ears.  Beautiful red coat & long tail.  Not yet matured in body & this was reflected in his movement.  A promising boy.

Class 10 - Australian Bred Dog

1st - Ch Donriver How Very Surprising

Golden Sable dog.  Good head, sweet expression, flat parallel planes & neat, well set ears.  A little up on size.  Showed well.  Well boned, & very good body.  Abundant coarse coat.  Lovely side gait, covering the ground.  A handsome boy.

2nd - Ch Shatrin Praise Be

Red gold sable.  Pleasing head & sweet expression.  Prefer a more oblique almond eye.  Abundant coat of good texture.  Good turn of stifle, but prefer more layback of shoulder.  Still moved well.  Not much between these two boys

3rd - Ch Shelamour Groovy Kind Ov Love

Shaded sable dog.  Clean head with sweet expression, prefer more oblique eye.  Well bodied.  Balanced angulation.  Prefer harsher coat.  Well turned stifle.  Balanced on the move.  A little unsettled on the day.

Class 11 - Open Dog

1st - Ch Maliddie Heart Of A Hero

Dark shaded sable dog of excellent type.  Masculine yet sweet.  Balanced head piece.  Flat head planes, & neat ears, to be picky, perhaps I’d prefer slightly less depth to back skull.  Good pigment.  Prefer more oblique eye.  Well bodied up.  Not the biggest coat of the day, but gleamed in the sun, abundant & of correct texture.  Nicely balance front & rear angulation & this was reflected in his effortless side gait.  Responsive to his handler & a pleasure to judge.

2nd - Ch Shatrin Blessed Be

Golden sable dog, up on size.  Pleasing head & sweet expression, neat ears, prefer darker pigment.  A little upright in shoulder & subsequently not the reach of neck to balance him out.  Abundant coat of good texture.  Moved with drive, covered the ground well.  A pleasing dog, very responsive to handler.

3rd – Jencol Justgowithit

Red sable dog, another sweet boy.  Prefer slightly less stop, but still sweet in expression.  Again, perhaps needs a little more forequarter angulation, but well turned stifle, & still moved well.  Gleaming coat in excellent condition.  In tune with his handler & did all she asked of him.  A nice class of males.

Class 12 - Veteran 7+ Dog

1st - Am Ch Blue Haven Big Bang (imp USA)

A masculine 8 year old blue merle dog.  Strong, masculine head, wedge shaped, prefer slightly less depth to back skull.  Very good body & firm topline.  Tail almost to the hock.  Prefer more forequarter angulation, but balanced side gait, & sound coming & going.  Coat of good texture & a soft steely blue (but definite blue hue), clear of heavy markings.  A pleasure to judge him.

Class 1a - Baby Puppy Bitch

1st – Donriver All That Glitters

Rich golden sable, excellent head & expression, oblique almond eye, & good pigment.  A shapely outline on this girl & very balanced overall.  More mature than others in the class.  Excellent turn of stifle & covered the ground effortlessly.

2nd – Shanelg Passion Pop

Sweet sable, again, excelled in head & expression.  Another shapely girl, lots of promise.  Not as well angulated in forehand, but excellent rear angulation that provided her with drive that showed off her side gait.  Coat was slightly softer, but still mostly made up of puppy fluff, so I’d expect this to change with maturity.

3rd – Sheltrue Whos That Girl

Another sable with excellent head & sweetness of expression, lovely dark eye.  She is the baby of the class, so very immature.  This class of baby girls was rich in head virtues, which is essential to type.  Good body for age but prefer slightly lower set tail.

Class 2a - Minor Puppy Bitch

1st – Shatrin Simply An Angel

Sable & white bitch, in abundant coat.  Pleasing expression with a beautiful dark, almond eye.  She needs to body up more, but as she’s just into minor class, I’d expect that to improve very soon.  True coming & going, & balanced side gait.  In pretty puppy coat to complete the picture.  A polished performance from such a youngster.

2nd – Trueangel Made You Look

Sweet blue merle with a lovely head piece.   Shapely outline, long tail, again, body needs to develop.  Balanced angulation.  A little unsettled on the move today.  A coat of correctly coloured, soft, silvery blue.  A sweet girl showing a lot of promise.

Class 3a - Puppy Bitch

1st – Inneslake Devil Wears Prada

A beauitiful tri colour bitch.  Wedge shaped head, sweet expression, prefer slightly less prominence of brow.  Dark eye, neat ears that she used well.  Well bodied for age & well set tail.  Very balanced on the move.  A gleaming black coat & rich tan.  This girl was a real little show off.  She had the movement, the balance, the outline, a very nice package.

2nd – Abovin Ticket To Heaven

A sweet blue merle with a pleasing head & expression, although I’d prefer a little less depth to back skull & a little more refinement in foreface, but a well rounded muzzle.  The clear, silvery blue is evident in the undercoat, the outer coat is still the puppy coat, so not quite as silvery yet, but a definite blue hue.  Balanced angulation & excelled in side gait, although carried her tail a little.

Two nice bitches

Class 4a - Junior Bitch (JIS)

1st – Donriver Start The Party

Sweet sable bitch.  Excellent full rounded muzzle, pleasing head & expression.  Shapely outline.  Excellent size.  Body still needs to develop.  Abundant coat.  Excelled on the move.  Responsive to handler.  A quality bitch.

2nd – Kilwarrin Lady High Flyer

Glamorous sweet sable, with pleasing expression & lovely dark almond eye.  Not as full in muzzle, but in balance with her head, although I’d prefer more finish of underjaw.  Balanced throughout, very flowing outline.  In pretty coat that was well fitted to show off her shapely outline.  Again, a truly sound mover.  Hard decision between first & second place, loved them both, differing in style, but both had depth of quality.

3rd – Shokase Bonny Lass

A down to size bitch with a pleasing expression.  Her virtues included her neat, well set, small ears, flat parallel planes & almond eye, although prefer more finish of underjaw.  Balanced overall & shapely in outline, a compact bitch.  Balanced on the move.

Class 5a - Intermediate Bitch

1st - Ch Shelamour Dear Prudence HT

Sweet sable, up on size.  Head was a long, blunt wedge, prefer more finish of underjaw & darker eye.  Shapely outline & well bodied.  Coat of harsh texture that fitted the outline well.  Balanced & sound on the move, although tracks a little wide behind.  A quality bitch.

2nd – Shanelg Wicked Willow

Rich tri colour, a sweet expression & a balanced head piece with flat, parallel planes.  Body needs to develop.  In gleaming, flattering coat.  A little unsettled on the day.  Excelled in side gait.

3rd – Maliddie Made For Paris

A sable with very good head & expression.  Body needs to develop.  This girl was in beautiful coat bloom.  She was proportionally a little longer than desired, but this benefited in movement, therefore she moved very well.  She was very responsive to her handler.

Class 10a - Australian Bred Bitch

1st - Ch Glenmira Diamond Keepsake

Sweet, feminine sable bitch, yes, up on size, but balanced throughout.  A beautiful head piece, topped off with neat ears.  I had a lot of shapely Shelties today, & many had that reach of neck, but where this girl excels is arch to her shapely neck, something most of us “groom” in.  She had a lovely flow to her outline, & fitted, feminine coat.  Effortless on the move, a pleasure to judge this pretty girl.

2nd - Ch Tesskatel Sweet Sophie

Sable girl, sweet.  Head piece was shorter than the preferred “long, blunt wedge”.  Neat, mobile ears were used well.  This girl was nicely down to size.  Balanced in outline.  Not in full coat on the day, but the coat she has was of correct texture, & finished her nicely.  She covered the ground well on the move.

Class 11a - Open Bitch

1st – Shatrin Straight From Heaven

Sweet sable bitch, a little up on size.  This girl excels in head & expression, with beautiful almond shaped eye, somewhat oblique.  A little more reserved on the day.  Really good body & firm topline that she held on the move, long tail.  Very good on the move, covering the ground effortlessly.  She was dripping in a coat of correct texture.

2nd - Ch Kataku Dare To Fantasize

Red sable bitch that was down to size & very well balanced.  Correct head piece, but prefer a darker eye to soften the expression, but still beautiful breed type.  Not as much body as the winner.  Lovely long tail.  Excelled on the move, she was the mover of the class, a pleasure to watch.

Class 12a - Vetrn 7+ Bitch

1st - Ch Tiakina That’s For Me To Know

9 ½ year old blue merle bitch, of excellent quality.  Absolutely lovely.  Head piece had flat parallel planes, well placed stop, well finished underjaw, neat ears, & sweetness of expression.  Balanced throughout, shapely outline, & balanced angulation.  True coming & going, open side gait with lots of drive.  In beautiful coat, a little bit steely blue, but still a distinct blue hue to the coat.  This truly is a bitch that has held her depth of quality into her veteran years.  Something for us to be truly proud of in our breed!

Class 18 - Neuter Dog

1st – Neuter Ch Sup Ch Jaemist Midsummer Nights Dream

Tri dog, pleasing head & expression, although I’d prefer a more almond shaped eye.  Ideal size.  Well balanced throughout.  Good body, & firm topline.  The coat was jet black, I’d prefer a coarser texture, but that is likely the result of neutering him.  His coat fitted him well.  Very attentive to his handler.  This boy is sound as a bell.

2nd – Icepower Point Taken

Sable dog, up on size.  Very sweet in temperament.  Head was a long, blunt wedge, prefer less depth to back skull.  Neat ears.  Firm topline.  Abundant coat.  This boy enjoyed his day in the ring.  He was a pleasure to judge.

Class 18a - Neuter Bitch

1st - Ch Neuter Ch Peerielee Colours Of The Wind

Sweet blue merle bitch, down to size & very well balanced throughout.  Good head & sweet expression.  Neat ears.  Abundant, well fitting coat.  Ultra feminine.  A bit hurried on the move, but very balanced & even.

2nd – Ch Shelamour Lil Town Flirt (AI)

Sable bitch, up on size.  Good head piece, prefer a darker eye, not quite as sweet as the winner.  Prefer more depth to her body.  Coat was acceptable & she had all the feminine trimmings.  She moved very well.  A bit more reserved on the day.
